Bullmastiff Training -the Solution to Almost all Behavior Problems

Your Bullmastiff can be there for you through thick and thin, but their manners can be a bit sketchy once in awhile. If you have never been faced with a disobedient Bullmastiff before; when you begin the training process you may be a bit lost. These issues can be anything from mildly annoying to very serious. Below we will offer some suggestions on the most prevalent behavior issues with Bullmastiffs and the best ways to take care of them.

Many Bullmastiffs have a habit that’s very unpleasant for owners to observe -stool eating. Cat feces is a popular delicacy with many Bullmastiffs who often raid the kitty litter box when you’re not looking. Medical issues can sometimes cause Bullmastiffs to do this, especially if they have parasites within their system. Yet even healthy Bullmastiffs may do this, and the best way to prevent it is to be diligent about cleaning up any feces in the yard and being alert when walking your Bullmastiff.

Unbelievably, there is actually a product on the market that will make the feces taste terrible. This is used to deter Bullmastiffs from doing this. If you have to, you might need to muzzle your Bullmastiff whenever it is outside.

Does your Bullmastiff like to fight? If it does, serious issues can develop as a result. Bullmastiffs are naturally territorial, and they are also pack animals who will sometimes challenge one another over dominance. The best way to prevent fights is to maintain control over your Bullmastiff and be alert when walking him. If you are walking your Bullmastiff, and you pass by another Bullmastiff that growls, make sure there is some distance between the two animals. Bullmastiffs get into the habit of meeting one another on the street. It is their nature. By keeping your Bullmastiff from other Bullmastiffs, fighting will be kept to a minimum. By preventing your Bullmastiff from pulling you on the leash, and using one when you go out, things should be just fine.

Aggression is one of the most serious Bullmastiff behavior problems and must be dealt with. Bullmastiffs can sometimes be hostile to not just other Bullmastiffs, but people too, and sometimes their owners. Even though this attitude is more known for Bullmastiffs of certain breeds; it can actually be apparent in any breed. If you haven’t had your Bullmastiff since birth, it’s possible that his aggression is due to past abuse of some kind. Another possibility is a health problem, so your first step should be taking the Bullmastiff to the veterinarian. If indeed you Bullmastiff is found not to be experiencing any sort of medical dilemma; you will need to seek proper training. Bullmastiffs may display all sorts of ill favored issues and we have just mentioned some of the most pronounced. It is really not a difficult deed to train your Bullmastiff if it is not responding to your commands. Their most relevant characteristic is to please, when it comes to Bullmastiffs; if they are not performing to our specifications, we are most likely not getting the message across. Time is of the essence; however, even though it will take time, you need to hang in there in order to train your Bullmastiff effectively.

Helpful Clicker Training Tips

Clicker Training for dogs is one of the up and coming methods of training today.  It is easy and effective.  All you need to begin clicker training is a clicker and some treats.

Here are tips to help you during your training.

-          When you first begin with the clicker, keep things simple.  Your dog does not know what the clicker is yet, so push and release the clicker, and then give your dog a treat.  This will begin to get your dogs attention.  Keep the treats small so that he’ll keep wanting more.

-          Make sure you click DURING a desired behavior.  Timing is crucial for your dogs understanding of what the clicker is.  Give the treat after the click, your dog will begin to associate the behavior you are clicking with treats, and soon enough, he’ll be associating the click with the behavior wanted.

-          If you’re not making any progress with a behavior you are trying to achieve, your clicking is probably late.  Timing is essential!  Try having someone else watch you to see if you are clicking at the appropriate time, sometimes it’s easier for someone else to see if you are clicking at the correct times.

-          Begin clicking when your dog is doing a desirable behavior he is likely to do anyways.  Start with something easy.  If your dog already knows how to sit or lay down, you begin clicking with that behavior.

-          Only click once for a desirable behavior.  If your dog does something VERY desirable, increase the amount of treats you give him, not the number of times you click.  Clicking more than once can start to confuse your dog.

-          Start your clicker training sessions short at first.  Make sure you keep the training interesting or your dog may get bored with the training and stop responding to the clicker.  Even using your clicker a few times throughout the day can teach your dog many new things.

-          Clicking to good behaviors will help stop bad behaviors.  Click behaviors that you want your dog to do, such as waiting at the door, not rushing out or for not jumping on visitors.

These are just a few clicker training tips, but there are so many more.  Clicker training can be fun for you and your dog, and will help build a forever bond between the two of you.

The Basics of Dog Shows

You’ve entered the UK dog community with your purebred puppy, and you think he is perfect enough to start showing him competitively but you don’t have a clue on where to start.  If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.

The basics of dog shows begin like this…  there are usually over 2,000 entries into a dog show.  Those 2,000 entries are narrowed down to around 160 best of breed winners.  Of those 160 best of breed winners, only 7 will be awarded group winners and only 1 can be the best in show.

Dog shows begin with breed judging.  The AKC (American Kennel Club) recognizes over 160 different breeds and most are represented at dog shows.  They will have rings designated to you for showing your dog.  The only people allowing the rings during the show are the judge, the steward and the exhibitors.  You can find which ring you belong at and at what time in judging program or catalog list.

Dogs are divided into different sexes for judging purposes and are judged on their breed standard.  A breed standard is what your dog should look like ideally for their specific breed.  The judge will compare the dogs to each other and will then determine which one meets the breed standard the best.  For each dog class, a winner is chosen.  After all the classes are done, the first place winners of each class will enter the ring again for the winner’s class.  Only one dog will be chosen from each winner’s class.

For best of breed, both sexes of dogs are judged together.  Dogs that are eligible for best of breed are the winners from the winner’s classes.  The judge will again only select on dog as best of breed and be given the chance to compete for best of group.

Group judging includes 7 categories: working, hound, sporting, non-sporting, terrier, toy and herding.  The best of breed winner will be the representative for their breed in the group judging.  The dogs in the group judging are not compared against each other, rather they are judged against their breed standard.  The dog that is closest to its breed standard will win first in group.

The first place winners of the group judging are now eligible to compete for best in show, the most prestigious award.   The winner of best in show meets its breed standards more than others do.

This is just the basics of dog shows.  To learn more about what your dog’s breed standards are or to talk to others about dog shows, visit your UK dog community today.

Online Dog Training Schools: A Great Alternative to Expensive Dog Obedience Schools

Wouldn’t it be nice if your dog was born already knowing not to chew on your shoes? Just imagine how awesome it would be if your dog knew to go to the bathroom outside of the house! Just imagine for a short while if your dog innately knew to sit, stay and come when commanded to? Uhhh… we can dream right?

We wrote this article to help others avoid the pitfalls that we had endured when using various dog training schools out there. Consider this article a “tell all” article from the diary of a frustrated and desperate dog owner. I most certainly will open the pages of my life and let you experience the ups and downs that my family and I experienced on our journey to finding the perfect dog training school.

Dog Training Schools Online

We all love our dogs and we want them to live happy, healthy lives.  Providing your pooch with proper obedience training is an integral part of its basic upkeep and maintenance. Just as we feed them, give them shelter, and make sure they have adequate veterinary care, we must train them too!

Finding a dog obedience class near you is probably an easy thing do however, many of these classes can be very expensive. It’s not uncommon to pay $150 or so per class. Most obedience classes run for 6 to 8 week session. The number of times that you bring your dog will most likely depend on their behavior and how well they respond to the training. We took our yellow lab to school and ended spending a fortune because he was so bad and needed extra training!

Things have changed quite a bit with the introduction of the world wide web. There are several online dog training courses given by different online dog training schools that you can try for a lot less money. One of the most talked about online dog training program is Doggie Dan’s Online Dog Training system. Doggie Dan is a dog trainer that has put together a series of dog training videos online for you to access where ever and whenever you want! The program is SPCA endorses and the training techniques used throughout the videos are simple, gentle and produce instant results. We recently got my mother in law a new puppy and I wanted to get her this system because she really can’t drive anymore and it would hard for her to take the puppy to an obedience school. I wanted to test Doggie Dan’s dog training online videos to see if they really work. It’s 100% guaranteed so I figured what do I have to lose?

Free Dog Training Courses

I think that we can all agree that cost is a major issue for most of us considering dog training classes. Doggie Dan actually offers free dog training videos online for 5 days. It’s pretty hard to find free online dog training courses these days. If you do find something, there is usually a catch and you end up paying in the end anyway.

As I continued to read the description of Do9ggie Dan’s training videos it occurred to me that I could have access to his training videos for 5 days plus total access to the full membership site and a ton of bonus products for only a $1.00! I think it’s worth the dollar, but if you are still skeptical you can just try the videos for 5 days absolutely free of charge!

Take a look at this free video to get an idea of what you’ll get!

Online Dog Training School

You are obviously going to want value for your money when purchasing any type of online dog teaching course. However, it’s important to keep everything in perspective when it comes to what is actually possible from these types of course. All dogs are different. This is especially true when it comes to the different breeds. Certain dog breeds are easier to train than others and it’s important that you research this before you start any type of course and become frustrated if you are not seeing the results that you expected. If you know your dog’s abilities ahead of time and you don’t go into the course with unrealistic expectations, then you will not be disappointed.

A good online dog training class will turn a bad dog into a good one and a good dog into an exemplary one. Dogs are extremely intelligent, obedient animals and they will provide you and your family unconditional love and devotion for years. You can help unleash your pet’s true potential by exposing them to training sooner than later. Consistently use the training techniques that you learn from any type of dog training class is the key to success.

Free Online Dog Training Tips

If you simply can’t afford to take your dog to obedience school or sign up for some online training videos you should be able to find plenty of dog training tips online. There are even online dog training games that have been designed for you to use with your pet in the comfort of your own home.

Online Dog Training Certification

In the United States, anyone with experience is allowed to start their own dog training business. However, you must be evaluated by The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers before you can start your business. They will be looking at the applied science of professional dog training, as well as how current your knowledge is. You can actually get a Dog training certification online but you still need to pass your evaluation before you can go out on your own.

In order to become certified, you have to demonstrate both knowledge and experience in dog training. All candidates must pass a knowledge test and prove that they have at least 300 hours of teaching dog classes, or training dogs in general. You will also be required to have a recommendation from a client, a veterinarian, and a colleague is required in order to sit for the exam. A trainer can only consider starting professional dog training upon their certification approval.

Getting The Right Services From Animal Clinics In Pocatello

As humans, we spend time looking for the best possible ways of taking care of our health. This might include nutritious foods, health supplements, physical activities, and a good hospital that can monitor the status of our health or cure us when we are sick. This is also the same for animals. Pet owners should provide the best nutrition for them as well as quality animal hospitals that can take care of their physical well-being, illness, or accidents. Getting the right services from animal clinics pocatello is important for people especially if they are living in Idaho.

The best animal hospital should provide all equipments necessary to determine an animal’s condition. This includes an x-ray, ultrasound machine, and other devices that accurately measure their weight, height, eyesight, and overall body condition. In this way, pet owners are assured that they have come to the right place because the animal hospital is equipped with diagnosis and treatment facilities that can cure an animal.

Besides the equipment, animal hospitals should also have products that address the nutritional values and health of the pet. These products might include grooming paraphernalia, medications, food, and vitamins that will help pets live a healthier life.

Good support for animals is ideal but support for pet owners is highly recommended. Most pet owners follow different pet care myths or solutions that they think are right but are actually detrimental to animal’s health. Educating the owners regarding the proper care of animals will help them minimize illnesses and accidents on the pet’s part.

Searching for the best animal hospital to care for pets is important in maintaining their healthy life. As they are an indispensable part of the family, people should also give them the same care they give to other members especially when it comes to health and nutrition. People in Idaho can also approach an emergency vet chubbuck nearby especially during unforeseen ailments or injuries that need immediate treatment.

Free Puppies: Why Adopting a Pet This Year is The Way To Go

So the holidays have come and gone and with that I’m sure there are thousands of puppies that found themselves a new home Christmas. While I’d like to believe that most of these puppies will live out very happy and healthy lives with their new owners, many of them will not. A few weeks after Christmas is when the number of puppies in animal shelters and rescue groups rise because people realize they made a mistake. If you are considering a new puppy, I assure you that there will be plenty of puppies to adopt out there that need a new home.

Free Local Puppies

One of the best places to find local puppies for free is the  local animal shelters. Most shelters house the maximum number of animals because unfortunately the number of animals that need a place to live is always on the rise. You will be able to choose from a variety of breeds that are a number of different ages if you visit a shelter. As a child growing up in household that loved animals, I realized that local animal shelters are one of the best places to find your pet.

Free Puppies for Adoption

One of the easiest ways to begin searching for puppies for free adoption is using the web. There are a lot of websites that have been created to list free puppy classifieds. Some of the most popular sites that you can use to look for free puppies are Next Day Pets, Petfinder and Adopt a Pet. All of these sites make searching for a new pet very easy. Let’s say you are interested in free puppies for adoption in New York, you simply enter your zip code, the type of dog or puppy that you are interested in and you will instantly have access to thousands of puppies and dogs that are up for adoption in New York. These sites usually provide you with a little background on the dog or pup that you are interested in. A friend of mine was looking for free German Shepherd puppies for adoption and she found her pup using one of these sites.

Free Dogs

My sister recently decided that she wanted to adopt a beagle. Beagle adoption is something that I myself am familiar with because my husband and I adopted a beagle a few years ago. He was an older dog, 6 years old to be exact. He was a hunting dog and when his owner fell ill, he could no longer take care of him. While there is no shortage of free dogs and puppies, it’s usually easier to find free dogs for adoption because most people are interested in puppies. Because of this, we knew that he might have a hard time finding a new home so we decided to take him home. After seeing how happy and well adjusted our beagle “Tim” was, my sister fell in love with the idea of adopting a beagle herself. She immediately started looking for free dogs in Chicago, which is where she lives. Although Tim was a pure bred beagle, we actually adopted him from a local shelter. However, I told my sister to search for the Beagle Rescues in her area because they always have dogs in need of a good home.

Animal Shelters

One of the biggest misconceptions about animal shelters is that they only house mixed breed, nasty, sick or even dangerous puppies and dogs. This could not be further from the truth! I recently read an article about a few animal shelters in Rhode Island and how local community members were standing up for them. If run properly, animal shelters are truly heaven sent for most of the animals housed there. As I stated earlier we adopted an adult beagle from an animal shelter who was at one time a big time hunting dog. It’s sad but a lot of the dogs and puppies in animal shelters ended up there because of situations that were out of their owner’s control. People get sick, they lose their jobs or their homes and one of the most common reasons that people can’t keep their pets is because they have to relocate. So don’t turn your nose up at an animal shelter, there are full of loving animals that would make perfect pets!

So, if you are thinking about getting a new puppy or dog this year, think about adopting a pet. You will save a life!

Find Bullmastiff Puppies For Sale or Find Bullmastiff Puppies For Adoption

My husband and I are considering getting a new puppy and we are interested in a bullmastiff puppy. My brother rescued a bullmastiff a few years ago and he is the most lovable mush. My kids love him and he enjoys their company as well. This is a plus because we want to make sure that we choose a breed that’s good with kids. I have read that bullmastiffs are good with children as long as they have grown with them, but my brothers dog doesn’t live with us and he is great our kids.

I wanted do a little more research before we made any final decisions so I was happy when I came across this great resource that was full of tips on purchasing, raising, breeding and caring for Bullmastiffs.

Bullmastiff Puppies For Sale

Because my brother adopted his bullmastiff he really couldn’t help us with any bullmastiff breeder recommendations. I decided that I would search for bullmastiff puppies for sale on the Internet and see what came up. We happen to live on Long Island so I figured that I would do a search for bullmastiff puppies for sale in new york as well.

Bullmastiff Breeders

One of the sites that I decided to check out is called Doggies.com. It took me right to a page that allows you to enter your zip code and then do a search for bullmastiff breeders your area. I was pleased when the first listing was for bullmastiff breeders located in New York.  However, it also listed plenty of other bullmastiff breeders on the east coast. I had access to bullmastiff puppies for sale in NJ, bullmastiff puppies for sale in  PA, and even bullmastiff puppies for sale in Michigan! If you are looking for brindle bullmastiff puppies for sale definitely visit the breeder from PA, they have the cutest brindle pups!! All in all I think this is a great website. It’s a great place to start if you your are just beginning your search for a bullmastiff puppy. Along with having access to several breeders, you will also have access to excellent information that will be very helpful for anyone interested in raising bullmastiff pups.

Another website that came up after I did my search was  Nextdaypets.com. This is a site that I have heard of and for what it’s worth I had done a few searches on this site when we were looking for our Labrador Retriever. I actually found the breeder that we used when we got our lab so I was comfortable using this site again. I really like this site because it doesn’t only focus on puppies for sale it also gives you some great information on where to find free puppies too. That is dogs and puppies that can be adopted from various organizations or private residents.

Bullmastiff Puppies For Free

While the majority of people looking to get a new family pet are interested in a puppy there are those who would like an older animal. My brother wanted to adopt a bullmastiff that was a little older because he knew that he didn’t have the time to potty train, play with and simply care for a new puppy. Puppies are like babies, they require a lot of attention, patience and time! It’s important that you know what you can handle before getting involved with a new puppy. Purchasing a new puppy, especially a pure bred dog can often be expensive too. If you are interested in an older dog and you don’t want to spend a ton of money, you should consider adopting a pet. My brother’s dog was a year and half old when he adopted him. He was still young enough to be considered a puppy but old enough to have been potty trained, he understood and obeyed basic commands and he wasn’t chewing everything that he came in contact with!   There are bullmastiff rescue groups in just about every state and you can also check with your local animal shelter to see if they have a bullmastiff for adoption. It’s not uncommon to find free bullmastiff puppies at an animal shelter. You would be surprised to see how many pure bred bullmastiffs, both young and old, that end up with these organizations.

Bullmastiff Puppies for Adoption

One of the most rewarding experiences that a person can have is adopting a pet. When you adopt a pet you give that animal another chance at having a good life. There are millions of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that are brought to either rescue leagues or animal shelters every year. Many of these animals happen to be bullmastiffs. Shelter animals end up in there for various reasons and they are not always due to neglect. One of the most common misconceptions about bullmastiff adoption and other pet adoption is that the animals need new homes because they were abused or neglected. While many animals do end up in a shelter or a rescue due to this, it’s not always the case. A lot of animals end up in animal shelters or with a rescue group because their owners had to move, lost their job or became ill. So many of the animals that you will find in shelters and rescues had a loving family that just couldn’t care for them anymore.

Bullmastiff Rescue

If you are looking for bullmastiff puppies for adoption the best place to start looking is a bullmastiff puppy rescue. While I was searching for a bullmastiff rescue group online I came across The Bullmastiff Rescue Center which is an excellent website full of helpful information. There was link for finding a legitimate bullmastiff rescue group and I think it’s well worth reading of you are considering rescuing a bullmastiff. Unfortunately not all breed rescuers are doing the work for the benefit of the dogs they have acquired. If you are seriously considering either purchasing a bullmastiff of adopting a bullmastiff it’s SO important to do your homework first. You want to make sure that a bullmastiff is right for you and that you are right for them. Choosing the right dog breed is really half the battle. You can try using our free dog breed selector tool to help you get started, If you think that a bulllmastiff might be right for you consider purchasing a book or two to familiarize yourself with the breed before you bring one home. You can always sell your used books online when you are through with them. It’s a small investment that will prove to be very beneficial in the long run!

Tips To Potty Train Older Dogs

When you have an older dog it can be a very rewarding thing to have. However, it can also be a challenge if the dog has never been properly trained. This is when you will need to have some tips to help potty train older dogs. Some of the tips will be to watch the dog closely to find out the signs of when they have to go potty, take the dog out frequently, and even ensure you provide the pet ample time to use the restroom outside.

Watching the dog closely is a great way to learn about the mannerisms they perform before they have to use the restroom. For example some of the pets will circle around an area sniffing it before they go to the potty. Since they do this, you will be able to figure out if they are going to use the restroom soon or not. Then you can make the proper move of taking the dog outside so they know this is where they should use the restroom at.

While the process can be a pain at times, it will often be in your best interest to take the dog out frequently. When you take the dog out frequently, it will lead to you being able to get your dog out before they have an accident in the house. However, it will also allow them to know this is where they should be using the restroom.

Spending plenty of time outside with your pet is important to do as well. Now you may not think about this being a contributing factor, but if you do not provide them ample time it will be easy for them to come back in and finish their business.
